COMMENT PERIOD ANNOUNCED FOR POTENTIAL DISTRICT COURT DEBT COLLECTION AND HOUSING ACTION DIVISION COMMISSIONERS (Two Positions)

Salt Lake City, Utah — The Debt Collection and Housing Action Division was authorized by the Utah Legislature through Senate Bill 270 during the 2026 General Session. The legislation allows the Judicial Council to establish a statewide division within the district court to centralize the processing of debt collection and housing actions and provides for commissioners to help staff the division. The legislation takes effect Jan. 1, 2027, and the Judiciary is preparing for implementation of the new division.

The District Court Debt Collection and Housing Action Division Commissioner Nominating Committee has submitted the following names for public comment:

·       Maryt Fredrickson,

·       Kyle Kaiser,

·       Beth E Kennedy,

·       Nicholas Lloyd

Anyone wishing to comment regarding the potential appointment of a District Court Debt Collection and Housing Action Division commissioner may do so within the next 10 days by emailing shaneb@utcourts.gov. Individuals who comment on the nominees are encouraged, but not required, to provide their names and contact information.
